The Bibbulmun Track is a
1000km walk trail that stretches from Kalamunda in the Perth
Hills to Albany on the southern reaches of Western
Australia. It crosses not far from Mandurah at Dwellingup and Jarrahdale. On this walk you travel through some of the most
spectacular scenery in the country and seven rural
communities.
It was first conceived
in the 1970's to encourage people to go bush and discover
the natural beauty that is South West Australia. The track
passes through Jarrah Forests, wild bushland, past giant granite boulders and river
valleys.
There are self guided
day walk kits available called "On the trail of the Red
Tail" which give you all the information you will need
or you can take an 8 week adventure and enhance your trip by
camping out or staying in the rural accommodations along the
way. There are also guided trips available and information
on these can be viewed at www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au
Many thanks to the
friends of the Bibbulmun Track for use of the map and pics
in our site.
